When Pearl told Garnet to give her three days to herself so she could focus on her studies, Garnet quietly agreed. But that was five days ago and Pearl hasn't responded to any messages in the last couple of days. Which to Garnet says she's probably caught up in more assignments and tests and forgotten it's already been five days and she should take breaks. Garnet was worried at the third day mark already, but she always gives Pearl some time before she steps in. Pearl needs that extra time sometimes, and it gets harder the more worried Garnet feels.
So Garnet decides, finally, that she needs to take matters into her own hands and save Pearl from herself. She prepares a thermos of tea, stuffs a blanket in her bag and goes by Pearl's favorite Thai place and picks up pad tai with tofu, some curry for herself and a sticky rice to share for dessert. She doesn't bother knocking or ringing the doorbell, she uses her own copy of the key to ente Pearl's apartment.
Garnet sets her things down on the table and goes to Pearl's room and opens the door. There, huddled at her desk in the dark, is Pearl, pouring over a book and typing into her laptop. She calmly, not too quietly so Pearl knows she's approaching, places her hand on her shoulder. "Pearl," she says quietly, more a question to get her attention.

Pearl can't quite block the noises rising from her throat at the sensation, a mix of pain and pleasure. God, her muscles feel like rocks beneath Garnet's fingertips. She hadn't even realized the state her back is in, though staying slouched in front of the computer for as long as she has, that's really only to be expected.
Pearl would scold herself for this severe oversight in self-discipline and care, but in all honesty -- with this being the turnout, she can't bring herself to regret it.
"Okay," she answers without missing a beat. With the promise of Garnet's firm, skillful fingers kneading away at her aching muscles, she'd likely consent to just about anything. Pearl does catch herself the next moment, though, qualifying her agreement: "But I'm trusting you. No funny business."
Her nose crinkles in a very intimidating pout, and she leans in to peck Garnet's lips before doing as she was instructed.

She steps off the couch to let Pearl lay down, and once she's ready, this time she starts at Pearl's waist. From this position she can apply pressure better, pushing hard against knots with her fingertips, soothing and smoothing at Pearl's skin with the flat of her other hand. She pushes Pearl's sweater up her back slowly as she takes care to massage every muscle.
"What's the rule? Take a break every thirty minutes to stretch." She doesn't let Pearl retort as she balls her hands into fists and starts softly pounding down Pearl's back, the last step in the process. She's cut it a little quick this time, Pearl needs to get back to eating and then resting.
Once she gets to the end of Pearl's back, she opens her hands to softly slap each buttcheek, signifying she's done.

"I know," she goes to answer, voice taking on a nasal, haughty note. "I just-- hnn!" All right, maybe Garnet doesn't want to argue. But for once Pearl doesn't mind being shut up even one bit, if that's how she's going to go about it. She sinks back into the sofa, eyes drifting to a close as she lets herself get lost in the sensation. Her every muscle sings out in sweet, precious relief like a choir of angels, and in one blissfully irrational moment she's ready to swear to never take care of herself again.
Which is rather rudely interrupted with a pair of slaps to her behind. "Garnet!" she blurts out with a stunned guffaw, trailing off into smaller giggles of embarrassment. Pearl rolls onto her back, not minding that her sweater's pushed all the way up her ribcage as she holds out both arms. Her cheeks are flushed, grin lopsided -- just a little bit goofy.
"C'mere."

She lets her weight ontop of Pearl, wrapping her arms around her slender waist as she does so. She rests her head in the crook of Pearl's neck. "Love you," she whispers against it.
no subject
"I love you, too." Pearl kisses the top of Garnet's head, then adds with a laugh: "I'd go as far as to say you've re-earned your title of 'the best'."

Like this, held tightly against Pearl, her scent surrounding her, the warmth of her legs around her, her earlier tasks are almost entirely forgotten. She begins placing soft, lazy kisses against Pearl's neck, following a trail from one side to the other. "Of course I am," she responds, lips brushing against warm skin.

"What did I do to deserve you?"

Garnet lifts herself onto her elbows so her face hovers above Pearl's. She cups Pearl's face with her hands, makes sure to catch her eyes. She purses her lips, tongue rolling against her teeth as she considers what the right answer is, what words convey what Pearl means to her and how much they do, in fact, deserve each other.
She brushes at the wisps of hair that have mussed around Pearl's face with her thumbs. "Everything," she responds, finally.

And then Garnet speaks, and that single word makes the heat flare up so sharply that Pearl's convinced she's letting out steam. She was only joking, but when Garnet says things like that, looking at her like that, touching her like that, Pearl can feel her reach into her very chest and just-- God, she doesn't know. Release an en entire swarm of butterflies.
The first response she can think of is to cover her burning face with her hands. "Garnet, you're embarrassing me," she manages with a laugh from behind them, though the way her voice shakes is altogether too telling.

"Pearl." Garnet places a kiss on the back of each of Pearl's hands. "Come out come out." Her voice is sing-songy, as if playing a game made for children. "Your food's definitely going to be cold now."
no subject
Everything... A tiny sliver of teeth might be visible through the gap between her hands as her smile grows wider still.
"Are you gonna feed me again?" There's an almost childlike drawl to her voice, eyes sparkling with eagerness -- and oh, she's acting spoiled rotten, she knows, but Pearl can't quite help herself.
She gets the feeling Garnet will let her.
no subject
"Maybe," her voice is just as deep, almost quiet in its gentleness. Pearl is being selfish but Garnet is enjoying it. And she feels a bit selfish herself, taking Pearl's time when she knows Pearl should rest. But how can she resist when Pearl allows herself to tell her exactly what she wants.
Garnet shifts off of her elbows and lets more of her weight onto Pearl, probably more than she should, but she uses the opportunity to burrow her nose between Pearl's palms, to place a kiss against her lips. "I'll do anything you want to do." Her voice carries the weight of her meaning. She's giving in to what she wants as well, this moment of intimacy with Pearl. Then she adds, with a bit of teasing to her tone, "Except let you get back to studying."

She removes her hands at last, reaching up to cup Garnet's face instead. Her thumb brush the striking, honed line of her cheekbone, the tip of her forefinger just barely dipping into luscious, dark hair.
She's kind of perfect. And perhaps most astonishingly of all, she's hers.
"Careful," Pearl's says with an impish smile, teeth digging into lower lip, "I could get drunk on this power."
no subject
"Alright."

For a long moment, Pearl doesn't move at all, and the silent that hangs between them is palpable and inexplicably warm.
Until it's cut short by a loud, extended rumble coming from her stomach. Pearl flinches, freezes in place, and then sinks pitifully back into the sofa with a blush that reaches down all the way to her collarbone.
"I-I guess I am still a bit hungry," she murmurs with a feeble laugh.
no subject
When instead, it's her stomach growling, Garnet's eyes grow wide for a surprised moment, and then she's laughing, all that tension washing out of her with every shake of her shoulders. She goes a little limp against Pearl, from the loss of strength, resting her forehead on her collarbone until it subsides. That was indeed too perfect.
"Sounds like." She lifts her head to look at Pearl, as she lets out the last laugh as a contented sigh. One hand tugs down on Pearl's sweater, moving it back into place. Perhaps another time. "I'll heat it up." She takes a moment too long to get up, smiling down at Pearl, then giving her a soft kiss, before she finally pries herself from Pearl's grip.
no subject
"Thank you," she says once they've both quieted down, her smile appreciative and slanted with self-consciousness. The kiss is returned, sweet and chaste, and only with Garnet's weight lifted off of her at last can Pearl begin to remember how to lift herself back into a sitting position.
no subject
"Wait here. Don't get up." Her tone isn't particularly stern, but enough to let Pearl know she really means it. She serves the food out onto plates, then gives each a run through the microwave. It hadn't gotten too cold, so it takes no time at all before she's back at Pearl's side, tucking her legs underneath herself as she sits and hands Pearl her food. This time she has her own food, and nods as she begins eating.

The reheated container is accepted with a smile, but it's quickly pulled into a frown once she notices the one between Garnet's hands. "You hadn't eaten, either?" Her voice drops, guilt pinching at her brow. "I'm sorry, you should've told me."

(Though there might be a slight bias on her end, too.)
Tucking her knees to her chest and shifting her weight to the side, Pearl leans her head against Garnet's shoulder. "Silly," she scolds her between forkfuls of noodles, but she's smiling down into her meal, and the bridge of her nose is dusted pink.
