When Pearl told Garnet to give her three days to herself so she could focus on her studies, Garnet quietly agreed. But that was five days ago and Pearl hasn't responded to any messages in the last couple of days. Which to Garnet says she's probably caught up in more assignments and tests and forgotten it's already been five days and she should take breaks. Garnet was worried at the third day mark already, but she always gives Pearl some time before she steps in. Pearl needs that extra time sometimes, and it gets harder the more worried Garnet feels.
So Garnet decides, finally, that she needs to take matters into her own hands and save Pearl from herself. She prepares a thermos of tea, stuffs a blanket in her bag and goes by Pearl's favorite Thai place and picks up pad tai with tofu, some curry for herself and a sticky rice to share for dessert. She doesn't bother knocking or ringing the doorbell, she uses her own copy of the key to ente Pearl's apartment.
Garnet sets her things down on the table and goes to Pearl's room and opens the door. There, huddled at her desk in the dark, is Pearl, pouring over a book and typing into her laptop. She calmly, not too quietly so Pearl knows she's approaching, places her hand on her shoulder. "Pearl," she says quietly, more a question to get her attention.

She calmly, not too quietly so Pearl knows she's approaching, places her hand on her shoulder. "Pearl," she says quietly, more a question to get her attention.

"Maybe," her voice is just as deep, almost quiet in its gentleness. Pearl is being selfish but Garnet is enjoying it. And she feels a bit selfish herself, taking Pearl's time when she knows Pearl should rest. But how can she resist when Pearl allows herself to tell her exactly what she wants.
Garnet shifts off of her elbows and lets more of her weight onto Pearl, probably more than she should, but she uses the opportunity to burrow her nose between Pearl's palms, to place a kiss against her lips. "I'll do anything you want to do." Her voice carries the weight of her meaning. She's giving in to what she wants as well, this moment of intimacy with Pearl. Then she adds, with a bit of teasing to her tone, "Except let you get back to studying."

She removes her hands at last, reaching up to cup Garnet's face instead. Her thumb brush the striking, honed line of her cheekbone, the tip of her forefinger just barely dipping into luscious, dark hair.
She's kind of perfect. And perhaps most astonishingly of all, she's hers.
"Careful," Pearl's says with an impish smile, teeth digging into lower lip, "I could get drunk on this power."

"Alright."

For a long moment, Pearl doesn't move at all, and the silent that hangs between them is palpable and inexplicably warm.
Until it's cut short by a loud, extended rumble coming from her stomach. Pearl flinches, freezes in place, and then sinks pitifully back into the sofa with a blush that reaches down all the way to her collarbone.
"I-I guess I am still a bit hungry," she murmurs with a feeble laugh.

When instead, it's her stomach growling, Garnet's eyes grow wide for a surprised moment, and then she's laughing, all that tension washing out of her with every shake of her shoulders. She goes a little limp against Pearl, from the loss of strength, resting her forehead on her collarbone until it subsides. That was indeed too perfect.
"Sounds like." She lifts her head to look at Pearl, as she lets out the last laugh as a contented sigh. One hand tugs down on Pearl's sweater, moving it back into place. Perhaps another time. "I'll heat it up." She takes a moment too long to get up, smiling down at Pearl, then giving her a soft kiss, before she finally pries herself from Pearl's grip.

"Thank you," she says once they've both quieted down, her smile appreciative and slanted with self-consciousness. The kiss is returned, sweet and chaste, and only with Garnet's weight lifted off of her at last can Pearl begin to remember how to lift herself back into a sitting position.

"Wait here. Don't get up." Her tone isn't particularly stern, but enough to let Pearl know she really means it. She serves the food out onto plates, then gives each a run through the microwave. It hadn't gotten too cold, so it takes no time at all before she's back at Pearl's side, tucking her legs underneath herself as she sits and hands Pearl her food. This time she has her own food, and nods as she begins eating.

The reheated container is accepted with a smile, but it's quickly pulled into a frown once she notices the one between Garnet's hands. "You hadn't eaten, either?" Her voice drops, guilt pinching at her brow. "I'm sorry, you should've told me."

(Though there might be a slight bias on her end, too.)
Tucking her knees to her chest and shifting her weight to the side, Pearl leans her head against Garnet's shoulder. "Silly," she scolds her between forkfuls of noodles, but she's smiling down into her meal, and the bridge of her nose is dusted pink.
