Today is a beautiful Friday afternoon in late August, and, two months into their relationship, Cait and Vi are going to attempt something they've never done before.
They're going to relax.
Caitlyn's parents allowed for them to spend the weekend at their vacation home, on the outskirts of Piltover -- away from the constant whirring and buzzing of the city, a quiet spot dipped in greenery.
It's perfect weather; that fine seam between summer and autumn where the day still stretches languidly on, the sun bright without blazing, the evening cool without chilling. The woods surrounding the area are as lovely as they've always been, rich warm greens just beginning to foster that golden tint. The lake by the vacation home glints crystalline in the afternoon sun, a shimmering pool of perfect blue.
For once, they won't have to fight anything; chase anything, run from anything. For once, they can just rest.
So why do Caitlyn's nerves feel like a bundle of just-lit Progress Day firecrackers?
Because-- because, obviously, she's got plans. She's a planner, it's what she does. And she'd have to be an idiot not to picture-- rather vividly-- all the ways she and Vi could spend this three-day weekend, alone, in her family's lavish vacation home. It's too precious an opportunity to waste.
Not that she's told Vi as much. No, those vivid images are restricted purely to the inside of her head.
For now.
"Well, make yourself comfortable," she declares as she opens the door, hoisting the luggage inside before clearing the way for Vi. "Are you hungry? I ensured the fridge is fully stocked for our arrival."

"I'm going to have to really start calling you Princess more than Cupcake from now no," she jokes, shooting Cait a teasing smile. "Should I shower before I step into the rest of the house?"
no subject
She does the same herself, before stepping further down the entryway into the living room. "Come on. I'll give you the tour."
no subject
She’s kind of giddy, really. She doesn’t mind this lavish lifestyle too much, especially when it comes to the food and small comforts. She keeps her hands in her jacket pockets still, though.
“Please,” she enunciates, tone slightly fancy. “Lead the way, Princess.”
no subject
There's always something uneasy about introducing Vi to her lifestyle, knowing she's grown up surrounded by luxury Vi could've never even dreamt of. It's a conscious effort to keep her tone from tipping into apologetic, but she knows that would only bring tension into the air. Not helpful.
She tugs her into the next room. "Games room. We've got billiards, darts-- though do be warned I'm umatched in both-- this little... foosball table, which I believe my dad purchased in college and never had the heart to toss out," she flicks one of the handles as she passes by, "oh-- and board games. You ever play board games?"
no subject
“It’s been years since I’ve played any game,” she responds with just a hint of sadness behind it. “Most of them devolved into yelling and fighting over fake money.” VI’s tone shifts to nostalgic. “I once bet Vander I’d eat his shoe if he beat me and he almost held me to it.”
Vi brushes a hand on the foosball table. “Why do I get the feeling you’re super competitive when it comes to games?”
no subject
"Competitive? Me?" She chuckles, expression lightening. "Just a healthy amount, I assure you."
no subject
She taps her fingers on the table to further change the mood and distance herself from the memory. She shuffled backwards to what she assumes is the next direction of their tour, keeping her eyes on Cait with her best cocky smile. “I’ll totally kick your ass later, I promise.”
no subject
"Entertainment room," she explains, though it's plan to discern from the screen taking up the entire far wall, the floor lined with leather sofas and plush carpets. "We could watch a movie in the evening, if you'd like. Oh--" She touches a hand to her cheek with the realization-- "You've never seen Aina, Warrior of Lazaroth, have you?"
no subject
She snaps out of it and looks at Cait as if she’s just insulted her. “Never seen Aina— do I look like the kind of lesbian who’s never seen Aina? Learned my best moves watching that movie.” Vi steps back and does a little twist and round-house punch.
“Including-“ she wraps her arms around Caitlin’s shoulders and smiles up at her. She tugs her down softly to kiss her forehead, but misses and plants it on her brow. “Though that would be easier if I was taller.”
no subject
"You know, I had such a crush on her when I was a girl. Well, it took some years to unpack, but-- you know."
Her arms loop around Vi's waist in return, hair spilling over her shoulder in a curtain of inky black as she angles her head down, touching forehead to forehead.
"In hindsight, they really were due a kiss on the lips in that scene, don't you think?"
no subject
“Oh I definitely do,” and she closes the distance, pressing her lips to Cait’s
no subject
"Mm, much better," she concludes, eyes crinkling with her smile. "You know what my favorite scene was? When Neri got injured in battle, and Aina carried her." She plants a kiss at the corner of Vi's mouth. "Wasn't that romantic?"

It does feel like having a girlfriend for the first time.
VI’s quick about it. She takes a step back and to the side, places an arm at Cait’s back and behind her knees, and with a short ‘hup’ hoists Cait up in her arms, carrying the taller girl wounded warrior princess style.
She deepens her voice on purpose and quotes the very familiar lines, “Neri, I’ve got you. Hold on to me!”
no subject
It's-- silly, maybe, how much this delights her, when they've actually had to carry each other to safety in real life-or-death situations. But isn't it nice, for once, to pretend? To have no panic or dread pulling at her senses, allowing her to fully take in the here and now-- Vi's strong arms around her, the scent of her shampoo?
(She flat-out refuses to share Cait's shower products. "Too posh," she'd said. "Everything you have smells like rich girl.")
"You're so strong," she sighs out once her giggle subside, head lolling to rest against Vi's shoulder. That fact's never once evaded her, of course, but she marvels at it each time just the same. Her fingertips caress the outline of Vi's sculpted arm, appreciative. "Do I weigh anything to you?"
no subject
"You?" She bounces her in her grasp, adjusting her slightly. "You don't weigh anything at all." She turns her head to brush her cheek against Cait's, and her voice comes out deeper again, imitating her memory of Aina. "Our love lightens the challenges on road ahead."
no subject
They're being purposely ridiculous about it, yes, but it doesn't change the fact that Vi's voice sounds hot pitched half an octave lower. That, and her feet not touching the ground for a solid minute now is making Cait's heart all kinds of fluttery.
She curls against Vi, nuzzling into the crook between her neck and jaw. Her tone drops back to normal-- a touch softer, even, breath washing warm over Vi's ear: "Is it bad that this is kind of working for me?"
no subject
And then she feels a shiver from Cait's touch and breath on her skin. Her muscles tense and she starts to feel Cait's weight. This is another thing she's not used to. She's never had to hold back when she wanted someone. In jail, pickings are slim so you do what you can when you can. Cait's not like that, though, she's sure. She's fancy and organized and she's probably never touched another woman before. And she's sure she wouldn't want to start that in her parent's entertainment room. Vi's willing to wait for the right moment, for Cait to be ready.
Keeping her smile on, Vi clears her throat and gently sets Cait's feet on the ground. "You're right, it's pretty romantic," she says fondly. "Let's watch it tonight!"
no subject
But-- well, maybe she did come off a bit strong. Maybe Vi's just not feeling it at the moment. That's all right. They have all weekend.
She clears her throat, cheeks dusted pink with self-consciousness. (And with the images, so close to materializing, of her tongue sweeping up the side of Vi's neck, her teeth catching on her ear. God-- get a grip.)
"Yes, well, there's our plans for the evening. Very good." Cait pushes a stray lock of hair behind her ear, and her gaze briefly dips to Vi's hand, before deciding against taking it again. She makes her way towards the door, trusting her to follow. "Let's go upstairs. I'll show you to our bedroom."
no subject
She tries to lighten the mood by teasing a little, "A-are we staying in the room you used to as a kid? Any secret diaries or embarrassing collection of horse figurines you're going to try to hide from me?"
no subject
"You've been to my actual childhood bedroom, besides. Any mortifying memorabilia I own, you've seen. The decor here, in comparison, is fairly bare-bones."
She opens the door to allow Vi in, the room's interior contrasting almost comically with what Vi's idea of 'bare bones' must be. Like the rest of the house, the windows stretch arched and tall, framed in gold. The canopy bed is large enough for three people, draped with semi-sheer lavender silk that allows the sun to filter through. The intricate wooden shelves on the walls are topped with various trinkets and decorations that seem not so indicative of Caitlyn's tastes so much as her parents: abstract sculptures of all sorts, little things that sway and jingle and chime.
"Make yourself comfortable," Caitlyn says, gesturing to the wardrobe by the far wall. "Might as well unpack our things, while we're at it."
no subject
"I dunno, it's a house you visit less. Could get away with hiding stuff easier." Obviously hiding stuff is all Vi could think off. She used to hide always hide the last bite of her favorite candy from Powder, even if she would usually find it. In jail, she hid a great deal more things.
Vi does what she always does anytime she enters a new room. She drops what she's carrying and hops onto the bed. It also helps shake out some nerves. "Mmm, you always have the softest beds, though."
no subject
"Glad they're up to par," she replies, dropping onto the mattress beside her. "Does the lady approve, then?"
