Pearl collapses through the front door at half past midnight, like every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. These are the days she has work after class, and while she frequently ends them stumbling half-conscious on the tail of a caffeine high, it's not often that she's so aggressively miserable.

As demonstrated quite immediately by her regular greeting being replaced by an incredibly vocal, drawn-out groan.

"Today was a disaster," she announces to the back of Garnet's head over the sofa's edge, momentarily tempted to just let her backpack drop from her sore shoulders to the floor before remembering her very expensive custom-made laptop, and placing it neatly on the floor instead. She flops over the sofa's backrest from behind, wobbly noodle-arms spilling down towards the cushion. "I'm a disaster."

"Yes, you will," Pearl scoffs, swatting Garnet lightly on the arm. Even with her blush creeping down towards her throat, she knows when she's just being messed with. "Don't be gross."

"Sorry, sorry," Garnet apologizes, but her laugh says she's not sorry at all. She gives Pearl one more kiss on her temple, before moving her legs to the side a moment. She stands and walks to the cabinet where Pearl stocks their first aid kit and other medicines. She finds one to soothe scrapes and walks back, taking over the same position she was before, draping Pearl's legs over her once more. She applies the cream gently yet firm enough that it actually gets on there. "Tell me where it hurts."

Pearl's too slow to suppress the whine of protest as Garnet stands up, even though she's familiar enough with her habit of walking off without warning to know she'll return in short order. She follows her with her eyes until she's out of view, quietly sipping her tea.

Sure enough, within moments Garnet returns, a tube of the requested cream in her hand. Pearl blinks in surprise, then smiles lopsided. Her lips part to say that she didn't mean right now, and that she's sticky and filthy all over and definitely needs a shower first, but the words quickly fizzle out beneath Garnet's fingertips.

She can shower in the morning.

"Well-- the base of my neck, for a start."

"Okay." Garnet applies some of the cream to her hand, and reaches over, hand dipping below the collar of the robe, to rub it on Pearl's neck. She massages the cream in with her palm and fingers open, trying to move Pearl as little as possible so she doesn't spill her tea.

And she notices several bruises on Pearl's skin, from neck to shoulder. "I got a little rough there, I'm sorry."

"What?" Pearl says with a laugh, gaze instinctively dropping though her line of sight can't catch any of it. She'll have to survey for damages in front of the mirror later, though she's sure it's nothing a bit of makeup (or at worst, a light shawl) couldn't fix.

"You don't need to apologize for that, Garnet. You were doing it for me." Her front teeth snag on the edge of her lip, and her eyes flicker back up. "You know I liked that."

Pearl's response really does set Garnet at ease. Even though her instinct is to recoil at the thought she would ever hurt Pearl, she trusts that Pearl is telling her the truth. Garnet leans forward and presses her lips, soft and cool, to Pearl's. "When you're done with your tea I can get your back."

Pearl sighs into the kiss, lips curling up against Garnet's -- though they twitch a little oddly at the suggestion, a nervous giggle slipping past. "Oh, I could-- I could do that part, it's okay."

The thought on its own is eight kinds of embarrassing.

"Pearl," Garnet starts, in that sort of tone your parent might take if they mean to correct you over something obvious. Though her hands continue to draw soothing circles against Pearl's shoulders. "I'm taking care of you right now. So let me."

Pearl's chin tips guiltily down as soon as Garnet takes that tone with her, and she feels the warmth in her cheeks flare up.

"You're very hard to argue with, you know that?" she says at last with a bit of a laugh, glancing down into her mug again. "I'm almost done."

Tipping it up towards her mouth, she finishes off its contents in one long chug. The warmth settles heavy into her chest, and Pearl's shoulders slump with her exhale. "There."

Garnet smiles, that kind of smile when it's just from one side, as she takes the cup from Pearl and sets it aside. She shifts off the couch slowly, to rock Pearl as little as possible. "Can you lie down or does it still sting too much?"

"I can, it's alright." As comforting and pleasant it feels to be handled like porcelain, there's something about it that's unshakably embarrassing, especially now that her head has cleared.

Pearl's eyes dart towards Garnet's face again, lips pursing with self-consciousness. Still, she moves to lie on the sofa as requested, stomach-down and face buried in her arms.

"Thank you, Pearl," Garnet says softly.

This time it's very different from when she made Pearl lie down earlier. Garnet sits at the edge of the couch, and starts at Pearl's calves. Her touch is gentle, soothing, she hopes. Pearl's skin is still soft, even if pink and bumpy from earlier. She's especially gentle when she moves to Pearl's ass, careful to get every scratch and bruise.

She glances up, at Pearl's shoulders, the way her hair brushes against them when she lies down like this. She hasn't said it yet today and this feels like the right time. "I love you, Pearl."

Pearl lets out soft, short moans as Garnet begins working her way up tender skin, the touch stinging before soothing. It takes her a bit, but she soon finds herself relaxing into it, her moans melting into warm sighs. Garnet is good with her hands, and she can read her body like a map.

Exhaustion and pleasure knit together to drape over her like a blanket, and for a second she may well have been in danger of dozing off, were it not for Garnet's voice to stir her back awake.

There's a beat, and then Pearl blurts out a guffaw. "It's a little embarrassing when you say it to my behind," she says, her upper back curving so she can see Garnet's face, "but I love you too, Garnet."

Her smile looks a little funny, cheek squished up against her forearm; it's palpably sincere, though, laced with warm laughter. But then Pearl hesitates, and a sheepish little line forms between her eyebrows as her lips, just faintly, thin.

"... I didn't weird you out, did I?"

Garnet laughs, low, in her throat, at Pearl's teasing remark. It's true, it's strange to say when in this position, but she really does love Pearl, and after the night they've had she wanted her to know.

"Mmm," she responds thoughtfully at the question, now her hand working up to Pearl's waist, rubbing and caressing. "It was new, that's for sure." She leans over to press a soft kiss on Pearl's cheek, then pulls back to meet her gaze. "Anything that you want, I'm more than happy to do."

Pearl's mouth twists around, as if struggling to settle on a spot between a smile and a frown. "Well, I know, but-- you can do something while thinking it's weird, right?" Her hair falls forward as she slouches into the sofa, sighing at herself more than anything.

She knows she's fussing again, and she really, really shouldn't -- but Pearl thinks back on everything they'd just done and everything Garnet had said and she can't help it. "I realize you said those things as-- as part of the scene, but... it was dirty, wasn't it?"

Garnet's quiet and thoughtful for a moment. Her hands massage at Pearl's skin, moving up her back, fingers drawing circles against taut muscles now.

"It was dirty, but it wasn't weird," she says finally, in that tone she takes on when simply stating a fact. "And I really really liked it." She moves one of her hands to very, very lightly, tap one of Pearl's buttcheeks.

"Ow, careful," Pearl chides with a huff, though it's really too light to hurt at all. The smile quirka back onto her lips, uneven and toothy. "Yeah, you did, didn't you?"

Relief fills her instantaneously; it's not like it matters, really, how it may seem to other people -- this is for her and Garnet alone, and all she needs to know is that Garnet is comfortable.

Rolling onto her side, Pearl stretches one arm out towards her, beckoning. "C'mere."

Garnet nods at the invitation, and lies down on the couch on her side. She's still clothed while Pearl is mostly not, and having her small body, soft and warm, against her is soothing in itself. Pearl's smile, her smell, her touch. Garnet feels like she needs moments like this herself, even if she was the one taking control before.

She smiles at Pearl, head tilted to the side as she lays on her shoulder. "Hey."

Pearl presses herself close, stretching her limbs out like a cat in a sunny spot before wrapping them around Garnet.

"Hi," she giggles, and the tips of their noses brush together -- she leans in on instinct to close the gap, then stops herself an inch from Garnet's mouth.

"Sorry, I just remembered I taste like feet," she says with a self-conscious laugh.

Garnet laughs against Pearl, hands wrapping around her shoulders. "Well, it's my fault anyway." And she closes the distance for a kiss.

"Mm-" is the best response Pearl can offer with Garnet's mouth on hers, but despite her sheepishness, she melts into the kiss within seconds. It's hard to resist Garnet's touch always, but especially now, with it so playful and sweet in the wake of all they'd done. She leans in closer still, chest pressing to chest, legs twining together.

And she can't quite help brushing her toes down the sole of Garnet's foot.

"Nnn!" Garnet twitches back more from the surprise than anything. It takes her a moment to even realize what just happened, and that Pearl really did just use that against her.

"Two can play dirty," she responds, as her fingers tickle down Pearl's sides.

"No!" Pearl yelps, arms tightening around her midsection as she curls into herself for protection. "I've served my punishment, don't be mean!"

"Aright, alright," Garnet coos, and pulls Pearl closer, even if that makes her awkwardly press her head against her chest. "You should know better than to try to mess with me." She kisses the top of Pearl's head.

"I wasn't messing, just testing," Pearl harrumphs, as she rather comfortably settles against Garnet's bosom. "I can't believe you're actually ticklish. How did I never know you were ticklish?"
