On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, Garnet usually gets home a few hours before Pearl. She likes it that way. After busy days, full of conversation she'd rather avoid, Garnet enjoys the quiet. She can set her things down and put them away, relax, and, best of all, get things ready for Pearl. Pearl studies and works all day, Garnet likes to make sure she has nothing to worry about when she gets home. So Garnet organizes, cleans a bit, makes some food, waits for Pearl.

Her ears quirk up at a strange sound, though. She can tell just from how Pearl puts her key in the lock -- she puts the wrong key in first and grumbles -- that Pearl's had a tough day. She glances back and the sight of Pearl says it all. She looks absolutely spent, and her eyes are a little puffy like when she's spent too long holding back a cry.

When Pearl leans over the couch's backrest, Garnet reaches out to rub her shoulders, even if at a strange angle. She has to clear her voice a little, since she hasn't used it in hours. "What happened?"
